Smartest Bet in the NFC Championship Game

There are plenty of possible wagers to make for Sunday's NFC Championship Game, but the safest bet is taking the over, currently set at 46.5 points. Oddsmakers are banking on the game being a defensive battle, but Green Bay's and Seattle's offenses will not go down without a fight.

The Packers managed to score 26 points against the Dallas Cowboys despite Rodgers' calf injury. If the veteran quarterback is more agile than he was in that divisional-round matchup, he should be able to put up similar numbers against the stingy Seahawks defense.

According to ESPN’s SportsCenter on Twitter, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman has immense respect for Rodgers:

While Rodgers has been great for the majority of the season, ESPN's Skip Bayless talked about Rodgers’ struggles on the road:

There is no questioning the league's top-ranked pass defense and third-ranked run defense in terms of yards allowed per game, but Rodgers boasts one of the most impressive groups of skill players in the NFL.

With wide receivers such as Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams and a talented running back in Eddie Lacy, Green Bay should be able to put up enough points to ensure bettors hit on the over.

On the other hand, Seattle has managed to become one of the most dynamic offenses. Led by running back Marshawn Lynch and quarterback Russell Wilson, the Seahawks outclassed Carolina in the divisional round and will look to do the same against the Packers.

When asked about Seattle's strength in the fourth quarter of games, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told Clare Farnsworth of Seahawks.com, "I love the question because it points to something that we take tremendous pride in—it’s about finishing. It’s not just finishing the fourth quarter, it’s finishing the season, it’s finishing the plays, it’s finishing everything."

After finishing the regular season averaging 172.6 rushing yards per game (first in the league), Seattle should be able to post similar numbers to the 31 points it put up against the Panthers.

If you have to place a wager on this matchup, the safest bet is taking the over.

Predicted Final Score: Seattle 27, Green Bay 24
