Biggest Potential Game-Changer: Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts

Most football fans thought it was a foregone conclusion that Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos would make it to the AFC Championship Game this season, but Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts had different plans.

As Manning’s successor, few fans gave Luck and Indianapolis a chance against the high-powered Denver weapons, but the Colts looked dominant in every facet of the game and managed to advance with a 24-13 victory.

While Luck did throw two tough interceptions (both were in 3rd-and-long situations), he also managed to add 265 passing yards and two touchdowns, as well as 21 additional rushing yards.

After eliminating Manning and building supreme confidence with back-to-back postseason wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and the Broncos, Luck and the Colts will now travel to New England to play the vaunted Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Indianapolis defender Robert Mathis took to Twitter to ask the city if it was ready for the quarterback of the future:

Even TV personality Larry King spoke glowingly of Luck after beating Manning:

When asked about what makes Luck so dangerous, Colts owner Jim Irsay spoke to ESPN.com about his quarterback and heaped a hefty comparison on the young player:

"

[Luck's] magic, when you watched him in college, when the play breaks down, in that half a second, he does things that are so innate and so unusual; that's when the magic happens. He just decides in a split second, and he has the athletic and the physical skills to do that with his arm strength, with his feet. So really the sky is the limit. You hate to bring up comparisons with John [Elway] being there running their program and stuff, but John was that way of course at Denver.

"

Beating the Broncos was a major accomplishment, but Luck is smart enough to realize he must begin looking to the next round immediately. As legendary as Manning has been over his career, New England’s Tom Brady is even more accomplished in the postseason and will be looking to put a stop to Luck’s fairy-tale run.

The Patriots will be in trouble defensively, though, after giving up 31 points in the divisional round to the Baltimore Ravens. If Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco can rack up 292 passing yards and four touchdowns against New England’s defense, Luck should be able to put up even more impressive statistics.

Add in the fact that the Patriots beat Indianapolis in Week 11 of the regular season, 42-20, and it's clear Luck will be looking for redemption on the biggest stage of his career. As seen from his composure Sunday, standing toe-to-toe with Brady should be a moment the 25-year-old quarterback embraces.

Regardless of which team wins the AFC championship, Luck should be able to play at an elite level and give the Colts an opportunity to walk away victorious.

Predicted Final Score: New England 33, Indianapolis 30
