UFC Fight Night 59: 4 Reasons to Watch McGregor vs. Siver Fight Card
The UFC returns this Sunday with a great free TV card, as UFC Fight Night 59 comes live from Fox Sports 1. Coming to you from Boston, the card is stacked with talent and should fulfill your desire for great fights this weekend.
The card is headlined by Irish sensation Conor McGregor, who takes on fellow European Dennis Siver in the main event. McGregor is arguably the hottest fighter in MMA right now and is quickly ascending the featherweight ranks.
Other names that grace the card are Benson Henderson, Donald Cerrone, Uriah Hall and Norman Parke. With that type of talent, the card should be stellar.
Need a reason to watch this weekend? Here are four, as we examine why you should tune in on Sunday night.
The Conor McGregor Show
1 of 4
Let's be honest: UFC Fight Night 59 is the Conor McGregor show featuring accompanying friends. This is his showcase to the world.
McGregor has been a star since he entered the UFC and used his mouth and fists to earn the attention of fans. He has been dominant thus far, putting away Dustin Poirier, Diego Brandao and Max Holloway, among others.
He takes on Dennis Siver, whom McGregor has talked trash about in the past. Siver is no joke, though, which should make this a nice challenge for the Irishman.
This is likely the main reason most people will tune in Sunday.
Cowboy's Crazy Schedule
2 of 4
The night was January 3 in Las Vegas. Donald Cerrone took the cage and absolutely dominated Myles Jury to a one-sided decision victory.
Not even a week after that fight, Cerrone had already booked his next one. It would be 15 days later in Boston against a man whom he's lost to twice: Benson Henderson.
Cerrone continues to be the busiest man in MMA. He is constantly taking fights and staying busy, which is why he is a fan favorite.
His two losses to Henderson in the WEC were entertaining. He now gets a third shot at beating the former UFC champion in the co-main event, which is really a win-win situation for Cerrone.
Irish Invasion of Boston
3 of 4
Ireland is doing a full-scale invasion of Boston on Sunday night, from the top to the bottom of the card. It will give us a chance to gauge the talent from that country.
Conor McGregor, Cathal Pendred and Patrick Holohan will all be looking to add to their list of UFC victories. McGregor and Pendred are undefeated in the company at this point, which proves that Ireland can produce top talent.
Norman Parke can even be thrown in there, to an extent. He is a Northern Ireland native who will be on the main card and is also undefeated in the UFC.
Get ready to watch some high-level foreigners Sunday.
