Liverpool Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of January 12

Matt LadsonJan 12, 2015

We're almost at the halfway point of what has been a very quiet January transfer window thus far for the Premier League.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that there will be "little, if any" activity from his side this month (as per ESPN FC)—but that can always change depending on who becomes available.

Having ruled out a move away for Rickie Lambert last week, as per James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers is looking to "bring in an experienced goalkeeper on a short-term basis to compete with the under-pressure Simon Mignolet."

There is also plenty of speculation regarding possible departures from Anfield with several players.

We round up the latest Liverpool transfer reports and rumours.

Balotelli to Juventus?

1 of 4

This would be a pretty unexpected move but one that you feel Rodgers would welcome.

Mario Balotelli has found himself on the bench since returning from injury, with the Liverpool boss preferring Raheem Sterling, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini all ahead of him to lead the Reds attack.

The Italian replaced Borini in the second half at Sunderland but still hasn't gotten that elusive first Premier League goal for the club.

The Times' (subscription required) Gary Jacob claims Juventus have "confirmed" their interest in Balotelli, carrying quotes from Massimiliano Allegri—who managed Balotelli last season briefly at AC Milan.

Jacob claims Juventus could look to sign Balotelli on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent £14 million deal in the summer.

Assaidi to Dubai

Here's one that not many supporters will be too upset about.

Unwanted winger Oussama Assaidi has been recalled from his loan spell at Stoke City and is set to sign for Middle East side Al-Ahli for £4.75 million.

The deal was first reported by John Percy in The Telegraph and since confirmed by the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce.

The Sentinel's Keith Wales reported that Mark Hughes has confirmed the Moroccan has been recalled from his loan at Stoke:

Berahino Wants Liverpool Move

3 of 4

According to Simon Mullock of the Mirror, West Brom forward Saido Berahino is stalling on a new contract at the Hawthorns as he wants to force through a move to Liverpool.

The 21-year-old fits the profile of player wanted at Anfield, and Liverpool would love to add a forward this month—but doing so probably relies upon others (such as Fabio Borini) heading out first. Berahino will likely have to wait.

Lucas to Inter Milan

4 of 4

Inter Milan are ready to offer £7 million to prise Lucas away from Liverpool, writes the Mirror's David Maddock.

Rodgers was asked about Lucas' future before his side's match against Sunderland on Saturday, ruling out a loan move for the Brazilian but not a permanent deal.

James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo says Liverpool are "reluctant" to let him leave now that he has become such a key part of the side in midfield.
