Kam Chancellor Almost Blocks 2 Kicks by Jumping over Panthers O-Line

Giancarlo Ferrari-KingJan 10, 2015

In what can only be described as a crazy sequence of events, Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor almost blocked two field-goal attempts against the Carolina Panthers as the first half expired of the NFC divisional round.

On the first attempt, the Panthers were flagged for a false start. False start? No problem. Panthers kicker Graham Gano quickly learned that Chancellor doesn't give that up easy.

The veteran safety launched himself over the line of scrimmage and got in Gano's way once again. Another piece of yellow laundry was tossed on the field, this time for running into the kicker.

Mike Pereira, the former vice president of officiating in the National Football League and rules analyst at Fox Sports, tweeted out why that call was made:

Gano would go on to drill his third kick, trimming the Seahawks' lead down to four points.

Even though Chancellor's efforts amounted to nothing, kudos need to be dished out. That was some entertaining television.

As crazy as this sounds, that wasn't the first time this year we saw a player leap over the line and block a field goal. St. Louis Rams linebacker Darren Bates achieved that feat against the New York Giants in Week 16.

Former Bleacher Report writer Tyson Langland was kind enough to share that glorious moment with all of us:

Leave it to ESPN's Ed Werder to sum up Chancellor's manifesto of field-goal dominance:
