Howard Injures Groin vs. Capitals
Saturday, Jan. 10
Jimmy Howard has been the heart of the Detroit Red Wings' resurgence this season, but the star goalie may be on the shelf for the time being.
According to Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press, Howard was taken to the locker room during the team's game on Saturday against Washington with a groin injury:
Howard, who had just been named to the 2015 All-Star roster hours earlier, has been brilliant this year with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. The Red Wings have won this season behind their defense and goaltending, so a prolonged absence for the 30-year-old would be crippling.
