The Best Highlights for the Detroit Red Wings' Stars in 2014-15
Amazing goals, plays and saves are what make hockey an amazing sport to watch, and so far this season there have been some great plays involving the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings have a number of extremely gifted players, and their accolades have made highlight reels across North America and beyond.
Here we will take a look at the brilliance of Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Gustav Nyquist and company and their best highlights thus far in 2014-15.
Pavel Datsyuk's Amazing Move That Was Tragically Disallowed
1 of 5Pavel Datsyuk is the wizard of the NHL, and he doesn't need to stay behind a curtain to make his magic happen. The 36-year-old center continues to dazzle and amaze with classic dangles and shots.
Earlier this season he participated in an amazing play that was ultimately disallowed because of incidental contact with the goalie.
Although the goal was disallowed, this entire sequence just sums up what Datsyuk continues to be each and every night.
Jonas Gustavsson Makes Three Saves in a Row
2 of 5Jonas Gustavsson is still sidelined with an injury, but earlier in the season he was playing well for the Detroit Red Wings. The backup was thrilled to get a start against his former club, and he made the most of his chance to play.
During this sequence Gustavsson makes three "monster" saves, and he prevented the Maple Leafs from scoring on a few glorious chances.
Henrik Zetterberg's Amazing Game vs. Toronto
3 of 5The Detroit Red Wings' captain has made some magic over the last few years, and his performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs was amazing. Zetterberg recorded four assists against the Red Wings' foe during last season's Winter Classic, and his dishes to Johan Franzen and Gustav Nyquist were just fantastic.
The Red Wings have been one of the NHL's top teams this season, and Zetterberg's brilliance has been a big reason for their success.
Danny DeKeyser and Tomas Tatar Team Up
4 of 5Tomas Tatar has been one of the Red Wings' top goal scorers this year, and Danny DeKeyser has had a nice little offensive season as well. Earlier in the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tatar buried an amazing cross-ice feed from DeKeyser that tied the game at one apiece.
Tatar has scored some pretty goals from this spot on the ice this season, and the overall work that went into this play makes it even sweeter.
Gustav Nyquist Puts on a Clinic
5 of 5Gustav Nyquist is a talented forward who took the NHL by storm last season. This season he had an amazing shift that resulted in a game-winning goal for the Detroit Red Wings.
In the clip above, Nyquist successfully protects the puck from multiple Ottawa Senators and finally puts it in the back of the net with ease. This moment of brilliance is nothing new for Nyquist, and it could be a worthy entrant for the NHL's goal of the year.
Was there a top highlight I missed? If you would be so kind, leave a comment, and if it was so egregiously missed I will add it to this slideshow.
