Zlatan Ibrahimovic Told Carlo Ancelotti He Was Jesus to Help Inspire PSG Title

Paris Saint-Germain have established themselves as the dominant force in French football, but it is easy to forget that before they won Ligue 1 in 2012/13, they had gone 19 years without winning the title. 

That team was led off the pitch by coach Carlo Ancelotti and on it by striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now, young midfielder Marco Verratti has revealed that Swedish striker Ibrahimovic helped the club get over the finishing line that season in typically modest style. 

The Italian told the latest edition of FourFourTwo:

Before winning the 2012/13 league title, we were getting ready to play against Lyon. Carlo Ancelotti was a bit tense, so Ibra approached him and asked him if he believed in Jesus. Ancelotti said yes, so Ibra told him: "Good, so you believe in me. You can relax!" Zlatan is like this – he has a lot of self-confidence. This helps him to be a great player.

PSG did, of course, go on to win the title, and they defended the trophy last season with Laurent Blanc rather than Ancelotti in the dugout.
