My First Fantasy Teams Of This Football Season

Nick RallAug 7, 2009

This fantasy football season I decided to stick to only five teams, and I have only one more left to draft for the year. I stuck to the idea of drafting whom I felt I wanted, and didn't pay much attention to the rankings that come out all the time.

I think I did okay with mixing some risks with players who are already well established. I thought I would just throw up each of the teams and let you guys comment on what team you thought was the best. So here it goes...

Team One-Pick Five

QB-Aaron Rodgers(4), David Garrard(11), Matt Hasselbeck(12)

Rb-LaDainian Tomlinson(1), Derrick Ward(5), Reggie Bush(7), Pierre Thomas(6), Ray Rice(8)

WR-Andre Johnson(2), Roddy White(3), Anthony Gonzalez(10), Earl Bennett(15), Brian Robiskie(16)

TE-Chris Cooley(9)

Def-Redskins(13)

K-Ryan Longwell(14)

I'm thinking of dropping Hasselbeck or Garrard and picking up another RB, but I'm not sure yet because I don't know which one to drop.

I think this team has potential, and I took a lot of risks with some guys, hoping they would bounce, or that they would continue their good seasons from last year, including LT, Ward, Bush, and White. Any thoughts help.

Team Two-Pick Four

QB-Matt Schaub(7), Kyle Orton(12)

RB-Maurice Jones-Drew(1), Brandon Jacobs(2), Joseph Addai(6), Donald Brown(10), Jerious Norwood(14)

WR-Roddy White(3), Wes Welker(4), Santonio Holmes(8), Eddie Royal(9), Percy Harvin(15), Earl Bennett(16)

TE-Tony Gonzalez(5)

Def-Eagles(11)

K-Rob Bironas(13)

I have two top flight running backs, and two pretty great wide receivers, plus a great tight end. I also think my quarterbacks will perform reasonably well and the rest of my team should be able to put up enough points, giving me some good spots that should keep this team near the top. I may drop Bennett and pick up another running back because I don't think you can have too many.

Team Three-Pick Two

QB-Aaron Rodgers(5), David Garrard(12)

RB-Michael Turner(1), Frank Gore(2), Joseph Addai(6), Reggie Bush(7), Beanie Wells(9), T.J. Duckett(16)

WR-Steve Smith(3), Dwayne Bowe(4), Derrick Mason(10), Percy Harvin(11), Michael Crabtree(13)

TE-Chris Cooley(8)

Def-Jets(14)

K-Garret Hartley(15)

Again, I went with Aaron Rodgers at QB because I think he will have an even better season than last year, when he was very good. Garrard is a very good backup where I have him, and my runnning backs and receivers look strong as long as the injury bug doesn't bite. Crabtree could also bust out if he ever freaking signs.

Team Four-Pick Four

QB-Aaron Rodgers(5), David Garrard(11)

RB- Maurice Jones-Drew(1), Joseph Addai(6), Knowshon Moreno(7), Felix Jones(9), Fred Taylor(10), T.J. Duckett(16)

WR-Randy Moss(2), Steve Smith(3), T.J. Houzh(4), Anthony Gonzalez(8), Steve Breaston(12)

TE-Anthony Fasano(13)

Def-Redskins(14)

K-Garret Hartley(15)

Okay, so I think I am really weak at running back with this team, but crazy strong in the receiving category. Again, I go with Rodgers and Garrard because I like that combo a lot for a team. Fasano caught plenty of TDs last year, and in the 13th, I think he's a good pick. I may trade away from my receiving and try to bolster my RB, but I'm not sure.

So...your thoughts are helpful before my final draft, which is the one that counts the most. Thanks
