Even if the 26-8 Atlanta Hawks are hurting for fans—24th in home attendance, at 16,015 per outing through 17 games—this gesture is awesome.

Due to the Hawks' 10:38 p.m. ET tipoff against the Los Angeles Clippers on the road, fans who wanted to watch the Eastern Conference leaders play had to lose some sleep.

Good thing Hawks CEO Steve Koonin has your back.

He wrote on Twitter, "Stay up late to watch the Hawks tonight. Take this note to the office tomorrow and the box office on Wednesday."

Here's the note:

Dear Boss,

From one boss to another, please excuse --- for being late to work Tuesday morning.

--- is a huge Hawks fan and just couldn't bear to miss watching Monday night's game against the Clippers on SportSouth, which tipped off at 10:38 ET.

As a token of our appreciation for your kindness, we'd like to invite you, the boss, to the Hawks-Grizzlies game on Wednesday. We expect --- will buy a ticket, but if the two of you show this letter at the box office, your ticket will be taken care of.

Thanks for your support,

In Monday night's game, the surging Hawks topped the Clippers 107-98.
