Jason Giambi, the 2000 MVP, was released today by the Oakland A's. One the season the injured Giambi is batting .193 with 11 HRs and 40 RBIs.

Giambi was in his second stint with the A's. He left initially after winning the MVP and signed with Yankees for a large sum of money.

Giambi is currently on the DL with a Quadricep Strain. The front office initially thought some time away might help him refocus.

Giambi has been linked to steroids in the past and has formally admitted to taking them. He hoped to revive his career in Oakland.

Giambi Could possibly be picked up down the stretch by a team looking to add a powerful left-handed bat off the bench. But for now the 38 year old "has been" had better work on his batting.

This looks to be the end for Giambi, a fallen hero. He better start looking for a different day job.
