Baseball Betting: Best MLB Teams To Bet On Away From Home

Handicappers PicksAug 7, 2009

Home field advantage in the majors this season has been as important as ever, but not every team has proven to be a welcome guest. The trade deadline has come and gone, so teams will be jockeying for position. Check out BetUS Sportsbook’s list of the hottest road teams baseball betting has to offer. If you are looking for Mike Rose’s expert MLB baseball picks visit Touthouse.com

1: Colorado Rockies (32-27, +$1,118) (4-1, +$332 in L/5) The Rockies continue to roll and make life difficult for the likes of the Marlins, Braves, Giants, Cardinals, and Cubs, who continue to chase after them for the NL Wild Card spot. A five-game road winning streak came to an end on Wednesday afternoon against the Phillies, but there should be absolutely no complaints about the recent form of the guys in black and purple. What makes Colorado so scary right now is that after it finishes in the City of Brotherly Love, it has 24 of its next 33 at home, including series against the Pirates, Mets, Diamondbacks, and Reds. Don’t look now, but with that schedule, the Rocks may be able to run down the Dodgers if they’re not careful.

2: Arizona Diamondbacks (25-26, +$320) (4-1, +$299 in L/5) The Diamondbacks may not be going anywhere in this postseason, but thanks to a recent run of a good results, the team has a lot to look forward to in 2010. Yeah, ok… So they’ve won five out of six games against a combination of the Mets and Pirates. Big whoop, right? Still, they’re comfortably ahead of the Padres for fourth place in the NL West, and should have their sights set on an 80-win season in spite of an absolutely disastrous start to the year. All baseball bettors know just how good Dan Haren is, but the combination of CF Justin Upton and 3B Mark Reynolds may be the best young tandem of players in any lineup in the game, and the pitching staff is only going to get better next year when SP Brandon Webb comes back from an injury-plagued season. The oddsmakers haven’t seemed to catch up with this team’s improvements yet, so jump on board while the numbers are still good.

3: Milwaukee Brewers (27-28, +$494) (3-2, +$252 in L/5) Even though the Brewers gave up 17 runs two nights ago, they won their series with the Dodgers thanks to some timely pitching to get out of jams. The Brewers wrapped up the West Coast part of this road trip at 3-3, but that was good enough to hang within striking distance of both the Cubs and Cardinals in the NL Central. These next three games in Houston will inevitably act as an elimination series, as the loser of the three-game set should be no better than 6-7 games back with three teams to hop with just 50 games to play. Needless to say, getting swept would be a disaster.

And the rest…

4: San Diego Padres (17-36, -$1,175) (3-2, +$208 in L/5)
5: Cleveland Indians (22-32, -$573) (3-2, $208 in L/5)
