Manchester City Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of January 5
With Manchester City's season ticking along nicely, and with the FFP spending restrictions still hanging over their head, it's far from certain they will be active in the transfer market this month.
Manuel Pellegrini, the City manager, has been fairly coy when asked, with outgoing transfers seeming far more likely than new signings.
However, things can change quickly.
With City having spent much of December without a striker after injuries to Sergio Aguero, Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko, Pellegrini may, in fact, be tempted to sign a forward.
Here's this week's roundup of City transfer news and gossip.
City and Swansea in Talks over Bony Deal
1 of 4
According to Owen Rawlings writing for BBC Sport, City are closing in on Swansea's Wilfried Bony, saying the two clubs are "in advanced talks."
Rawlings believes it will take more than £30 million to prize the striker away from the Welsh club, but with City having suffered a number of injuries in attacking areas, Pellegrini may well feel he needs extra depth.
However, with Bony now away on international duty with the Ivory Coast, any deal may have to wait until his return.
City Watching Alexandre Lacazette
2 of 4
Samuel Luckhurst at the Manchester Evening News believes City are tracking the progress of Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette.
The France international has scored 19 goals from 21 starts this season and City are thought to have sent scouts to watch him during the club's 3-2 win over Lens in the French Cup on Sunday.
The 23-year-old is unlikely to move this month, but City could make a formal offer in the summer.
Bony on City Radar
3 of 4
According to Steve Stammers in the Daily Mirror, City are keen on in-form Swansea striker Wilfried Bony.
It is understood City are willing to part with £25 million for the Ivorian, who is currently with his national side preparing for the AFCON tournament, which begins later this month.
If Bony did arrive at the Etihad, it would finally see City replace Alvaro Negredo, who left in the summer for Valencia.
Everton Midfielder Tempting Pellegrini
4 of 4
Another player said to be interesting City is Everton's Ross Barkley, according to Rob Shepherd writing in the Daily Mail.
Everton are believed to be ready to listen to offers in excess of £45 million, which has put City, who are known admirers of the midfielder, on red alert.
The England man, 21, has impressed everyone with his technical quality since emerging from the Everton academy, and he is expected to go on and have a long, successful career.
City may well make their move in the summer when their FFP restrictions are expected to be lifted.
