Chelsea Transfer News: Andrej Kramaric Terms Set, Latest Sergio Busquets Rumours

The transfer saga involving Croatia international Andrej Kramaric is reportedly drawing to an end, as Chelsea are close to completing a £4 million deal to bring the prolific forward into the fold.

As reported by the Daily Star's Nick Lustig, the 23-year-old will sign a four-and-a-half-year deal and join Vitesse Arnhem on loan, per The Sunday Times.

Kramaric has been in sensational form for Croatian club HNK Rijeka, scoring an incredible 26 goals in 25 total appearances, via WhoScored.com. The young striker was voted as the league's top player last month, per CroatiaWeek:

Transfer speculation started to swirl as early as late November, and according to Lustig, Kramaric twice turned down a move to Leicester City in favour of a bigger club.

His father, Josip Kramaric, voiced his concerns with a move to the Blues in a recent interview with T Portal (h/t Goal's Stephen Darwin), as he feared his son would have little say in his future once he puts pen to paper:

"

They [Chelsea] are really persistent. The thing we disagree over is Andrej's loan over the next six months. The question is where would he go on loan? We have no guarantee that he would return to Chelsea when the loan ends.

The financial conditions wouldn't be the same if Kramaric is with the Chelsea first team or somewhere on loan. True, it's a great club, but I'm not sure if it's the right way to go.

"

Despite those concerns, the Blues now appear to have won the race for the Croatian's signature, and he'll have ample opportunity to prove his future should play out at Stamford Bridge in the coming months with Vitesse.

Kramaric is an incredibly gifted scorer, and while Chelsea don't currently have a need for an ace striker thanks to the presence of Diego Costa, the 23-year-old should find himself a spot on the team's bench next season if he keeps up his current form.

One player who likely won't be joining the Blues anytime soon is Sergio Busquets, who is close to signing a new contract with Barcelona, according to the Daily Star's Bruce Archer.

The 26-year-old midfielder was believed to be unhappy with the Catalans' poor start to the season, and with several Premier clubs keeping an eye on the situation, the Blaugrana have decided to hand the star a new deal:

"

The Spain midfielder's contract has been made a priority by the La Liga giants.

Barcelona's indifferent form under Luis Enrique this season has seen a host of stars linked with moves away and Busquets' situation is being watched by the Premier League trio.

But Barca are determined to hold on to him, and according to reports in Spain will offer him a new deal this month.

"

The Spain international's current deal doesn't run out until 2018, via the club's official website, and includes a hefty buyout clause of €150 million euro.

Busquets is one of Barcelona's key players, acting as the primary ball-winner in midfield and providing a physical presence to shield the back four. An underrated technician, he is the perfect fit for the club's free-flowing system.

The swift development of 19-year-old Sergi Samper has some wondering how much longer Busquets will be the club's designated starter at the position, however. Pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft believes the club's current transfer embargo will only quicken his emergence as the club's next big star:

But while Samper has been excellent playing for Barcelona B, he still has some ways to go to reach the high level of play Busquets has maintained for the past few years. The Barcelona youth product is universally recognised as one of the best at what he does, and it's no wonder Chelsea, among others, are reportedly interested in his services.

A new and improved contract would all but end any transfer speculation, bringing an end to this potential transfer saga before it ever truly began.
