Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Williams finished the season with 36 catches for over 550 yards and eight touchdowns. His final score for the Gophers came in their bowl loss to Missouri on New Year's Day. It was an outstanding catch and run that saw him hurdle multiple defenders en route to the end zone.
ESPN College Football provided video of the highlight-reel play:
The redshirt sophomore averaged better than 16 yards per catch over two seasons at Minnesota. That's exactly what NFL teams are looking for at the position in the current pass-happy era—tight ends who can stretch the field in addition to serving as a major red-zone threat.
Williams is also helped by the fact that it's a relatively weak tight end class. So he's got a chance to place himself very favorably on big boards if he can stand out during the draft process. The raw tools are definitely there for him to succeed at the next level.
Clearly he feels ready to make the jump.
