Ashley Young Injury: Updates on Manchester United Star's Hamstring and Return

Gianni VerschuerenJan 1, 2015

Manchester United will have hoped for a better start to 2015, as the Red Devils saw star winger Ashley Young suffer an apparent hamstring injury in their New Year's Day fixture against Stoke City, as reported by The Telegraph:

After the match, Louis van Gaal confirmed that the injury was to the winger's hamstring, and said that the veteran could miss a good chunk of time:

The England international appeared to pull his hamstring as he was reaching for a pass in the 74th minute and immediately clutched his leg before signalling to the sideline. He was replaced by Rafael da Silva.

Often the butt of jokes in the past two seasons, the 29-year-old had reinvented himself under new manager Louis van Gaal in recent months, and if the tricky winger is forced to miss a significant amount of time, his loss will no doubt be felt on the pitch.
