Cilic to Miss Australian Open

According to a report from BBC Sport, Cilic will miss the Australian Open with a shoulder injury:

US Open champion Marin Cilic of Croatia has withdrawn from this month's Australian Open with a shoulder injury.

The world number nine, 26, has been struggling with the injury for more than a month and misses the Grand Slam in Melbourne on the advice of doctors.

"I have a right shoulder injury which has hampered me for some time now," said Cilic.

Marin Cilic's season will be starting off on the wrong foot, as the tennis star will miss the Brisbane International.     

SI Tennis on Twitter has the report:

Cilic finished 54-21 a year ago, winning four singles titles including the U.S. Open, where he upset Roger Federer in the semifinals.

Big things will be expected from the 26-year-old in 2015, though the tennis world will have to wait to see if he can build on his strong 2014 until he's recovered from his shoulder injury.
