Brad Guzan made three saves in Aston Villa's 0-0 draw with Sunderland. Jozy Altidore didn't get off the bench for the Black Cats. Earlier in the week, Guzan made his 100th Premier League appearance in Villa's 1-0 loss to Swansea.
Tim Howard pulled his calf in Everton's 1-0 loss to Stoke on Boxing Day and did not feature for the Blues this weekend against Newcastle.
Earlier in the week, Tottenham confirmed that DeAndre Yedlin will be joining the club in January. At the halfway point of the season, Spurs are only two points out of the top four.

The Bundesliga is on its winter break until the end of January. Halfway through the season, Fabian Johnson's Borussia Monchengladbach is only one point out of a place in next year's Champions League.
Timmy Chandler's Eintracht Frankfurt is in ninth place and John Anthony Brooks' Hertha Berlin is in 13th place—which, amazingly, is only one point away from the relegation zone.
Julian Green's parent club, Bayern Munich, is top of the table with an 11-point lead, but Hamburger SV, where he is currently on loan, is in 14th place.
Joe Gyau's Borussia Dortmund is struggling in 17th place, firmly mired in the relegation battle at the moment.
In Bundesliga 2, Alfredo Morales' Ingolstadt is top of the table with a seven-point lead, and in firm contention for promotion. Terrence Boyd's RB Leipzig is in seventh place, while Andrew Wooten's Sandhausen is in 14th place, only three points above the relegation zone. Bobby Wood's 1860 Munich is in 15th place.
In the English Championship
Tim Ream played the full match for Bolton as they lost 2-1 to Huddersfield.

Eric Lichaj went 90 minutes for Nottingham Forest in their 3-1 loss to Birmingham City. For the Blues, Jonathan Spector and Will Packwood are both out injured.
Danny Williams started and went the distance for Reading in their 2-1 win over Norwich.
Oguchi Onyewu made a rare appearance this week, coming on in the 59th minute for Charlton in their 1-1 draw with Cardiff on Boxing Day.
Emerson Hyndman's Fulham play Brighton on Monday.
Elsewhere in Europe
Sacha Kljestan played 90 minutes in Anderlecht's last match before their winter break in a 4-0 win over Westerlo. Anderlecht is also reportedly (according to MLSsoccer.com's Greg Seltzer) interested in moving Kljestan in the transfer window if the right offer comes along.
The Eredivisie is on break for two weeks with Aron Johannsson's AZ Alkmaar in sixth place at the halfway point and Rubio Rubin's Utrecht in ninth place.
Mix Diskerud is still out of contract.
Alejandro Bedoya's Nantes is on winter break with his team in seventh place at the halfway point.
Conor O’Brien's Wiener Neustadt—also on winter break—is in last place in the Austrian Bundesliga at the moment.
Josh Gatt (Molde) is still recovering from injury.
