Kevin Frandsen Is NOT a Freddy Sanchez.
After reading Philip Kern's thoughts on Kevin Frandsen and Freddy Sanchez, it really made me wonder why so many fans are stuck on projections and "what-ifs". As Kevin Frandsen MAY project and MAY in all ways look/play like Freddy Sanchez, he is completely the opposite. Freddy Sanchez DOES have a batting title under his belt and consistently bats 300, while also sporting a solid glove at second. Frandsen on the other hand does not have such an accolade under his. Some may say Kevin has not received a fair chance to prove himself, but in all honestly, how can you give a young guy a chance in the middle of a playoff race when he does not produce? Not only has he only batted .128 in 39 AB's this year, but has failed to get on base in other ways (walks).
Other players that have gotten little to more playing time than Frandsen, (Burriss, Downs) have also failed to produce at the big league level. Fans complain that he deserves the playing time but don't realize that he just is not a Major League player. Hitting .370 in September of '07 doesn't make you a star player like Sanchez. Sure we traded an potential all-star in Alderson, but our farm system is rich in pitching, making him expendable. We, in return received an all-star second basemen in Freddy, that plays the game hard and right. One of the most overused words that i've heard this year is a "GAMER". However that is the one PERFECT word to describe Freddy.

The move of Sanchez also immediately upgrades the second base position, as shown in his games with the Giants. Fans grinding Sabean for his moves, should really look at the real side of everything. The Giants still have Mad-Bum, Posey, Villalona, Noonan, Neal, Sosa, etc waiting to burst onto the scene. The fact that Sabean is not only improving our team but also making a potential "Series" team should entice all Fans.
