The 2014 season was Murphy's first in Tampa after spending 2009-2013 with the Oakland Raiders, the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants.

Per Greg Auman of The Tampa Bay Times, Murphy was a good fit with the Bucs as a tertiary option behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson at wideout:

The 27-year-old University of Florida product enjoyed his best statistical season since 2010 as he caught 31 passes for 380 yards and two touchdowns before being placed on injured reserve on Dec. 14 with an ankle ailment.

According to Jenna Laine of SportsTalkFlorida.com, Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith was happy with Murphy's contributions in 2014:

Now that Murphy is locked in moving forward, the Bucs have several good pieces on offense. The big question now relates to whom Murphy and others will be catching passes from in 2015.

Josh McCown and Mike Glennon are the incumbent quarterbacks, but Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston or someone else could conceivably be under center next year.

Whoever assumes that job will have an impressive arsenal of weapons, though, which could make Tampa one of 2015's surprise teams.
