WWE NXT: Full Preview, Rumors and More for December 25

The Doctor Chris MuellerDec 25, 2014

Welcome to Bleacher Report's preview for the Dec. 25 episode of NXT on the WWE Network. Spoilers are already out there, but if you want to know what will happen without having the matches spoiled for you, you're in the right place.

This week's episode happens to fall on Christmas, but that won't stop the men and women of NXT from putting on their weekly show.

Two big rematches from TakeOver: R Evolution will take place, a Hall of Famer will appear and an act that will be making its main roster debut next week will wrestle what could be its final match in NXT.

Let's take a look at everything the developmental system has in store for us this week.

The Women

Charlotte and Sasha Banks delivered one of the best matches of the night at TakeOver. It wasn't just great for a women's match; it was a great match, period.

Charlotte will defend her title against her former BFF one more time, but she will have a little inspiration in her corner when her father, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, accompanies her to the ring.

Flair is obviously a proud papa with everything Charlotte has accomplished. She continues to get better and better, and she is one of the reasons the NXT women's division is consistently better than the Divas division.

However, Banks is not one to be taken lightly. She has always been a solid performer, but she proved at TakeOver that she is willing to take big risks for the sake of the show.

On top of her wrestling ability, Banks is one of the most convincing heels on the roster. Her act feels so natural, and her body language and facial expressions sell the character without her having to say a single word.

If Banks were to defeat Charlotte and win the title, it would definitely help her, but it could also indicate a call-up for Charlotte in the near future.

She still needs a little work on the mic, but there is no denying that Charlotte is more ready for the main roster than some of the women who are already there. The last few people who have dropped a title have all been called up very quickly, so it's a rare case of when losing a belt is actually a good sign.

No matter who wins, everyone is getting a present when these two women step foot in the ring again.

We will get a double dose of the NXT women's division this week when Carmella battles newcomer Blue Pants, who is better known to many as Leva Bates.

Saying Bates is a unique personality would be an understatement. She likes to adopt different personas for her matches and wears various attires to become those characters. Check out the included video to see her version of Harley Quinn.

Carmella has defeated Bates on two previous occasions, but the fact that she is returning for a third match could indicate a possible job for her in NXT.

Bates is not technically signed to a contract, but WWE doesn't bring in the same person to job three consecutive times to the same opponent, let alone give him or her a ridiculous nickname.

While Carmella is not an established talent, a victory over her would really help Blue Pants secure a possible future in WWE.

Not only would her experience help her fit in with the other women in the division, but her personality and gimmick would be very popular with fans.

Hopefully, Carmella and Leva "Blue Pants" Bates get enough time for both of them to come away from this match looking good.

The Men

The only singles bout scheduled for the show will see Baron Corbin take on a local jobber. With all the quick wins Corbin has racked up, it's good that he is finally getting a real feud.

Corbin and Dempsey have been facing off whenever they see each other for the past several weeks. They both like to get physical, so their encounters are usually entertaining.

It's pretty obvious Corbin will win this match in under a minute, so all we can do is hope Dempsey appears to make things more interesting.

The Tag Teams

Tag team champions Sin Cara and Kalisto will be in action this week when they take on the team of Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger.

Cara and Kalisto defeated The Vaudevillains at TakeOver in a pretty good match, but on last week's episode, the team of Simon Gotch and Aiden English were promised another title shot by William Regal.

Even if Gotch and English are going to win the titles eventually, it would be nice to see a couple of the other young teams in the division get some exposure by challenging for the belts.

If Jordan and Dillinger have good performances, they could find themselves in line for a title shot in the near future. If they get squashed, it's back to the drawing board.

They haven't had any real success in NXT, but it's still early for Jordan and Dillinger. All they need to do is impress the right people one time to make management consider them for a push.

Finally, the main event of the night will see future WWE tag team champions (my prediction), The Ascension, go head-to-head with the men who defeated them at TakeOver.

Hideo Itami made a big splash when he signed with WWE, but Finn Balor knocked all the water out of the pool when he brought out his famous face and body paint two weeks ago.

The menacing look will likely be something he saves for special events, but that will only make it more special each time he brings out a new design.

These four men had a really physical match at the live special, and we can expect a similar performance this time around because that is what these guys are good at. It's all about stiff strikes and convincing brawling.

What will be most interesting to see is whether or not WWE sends The Ascension to the main roster with a win or gives the new guys another victory to keep their momentum high.

Considering the percentage of WWE fans who actually watch NXT is pretty low, it doesn't really matter if Konnor and Viktor take the loss. They can still go to the main roster and make a fresh impact on the majority of the audience.

It's nice to see that they aren't wasting time with Christmas-themed matches, but hopefully, we get some kind of holiday celebration.

What are you looking forward to on this week's episode of NXT?
