Plaxico Burress Indicted On Gun Charges

Burress now has to decide whether to face a trial or take a plea deal. Assuming one is offered.

I would expect Burress to take a deal because there is no way a jury hears the evidence against him and lets him go free. I think his best shot now lies in making as good a deal as he can with the DA’s office for as little time as he possibly can.

Any hope of a return to the NFL is basically gone forever now. I just can’t see any scenario left that will see Plaxico Burress take the field for any team in the foreseeable future.

Even if he were to go to trail with this and he was lucky enough to not have to show up for court until after this season has ended, the chances of the commissioner allowing Burress onto the playing field now is basically none in my opinion.

Michael Vick was re-instated conditionally after having served a 23-month federal prison sentence for running an illegal dogfighting ring. Dante Stallworth has been suspended indefinitely for killing a man in Miami during a drunken driving accident.  Whatever punishment Goodell comes up with for Burress will be along the same lines in my opinion.

I can’t imagine Burress walking away with anything less than an indefinite suspension at this point. While his actions only hurt himself, it will be the recklessness of his actions that damn him more than anything. I don’t believe it has escaped anyone how close this incident came to being something far more horrible in nature. Burress was unbelievably lucky to not shoot someone else in that club that night.

I really hope Plax is able to make a good deal for himself. I admit I hope to see him play again someday.

Hopefully, he will have learned a thing or two about why you don’t carry unlicensed firearms around to clubs with you.
