Hopkins Recovering from Wrist Surgery

Sunday, Feb. 22

Patrick Creighton of CBS Houston reported on Sunday that Hopkins underwent postseason wrist surgery:

"

Hopkins said he had the procedure to repair a torn ligament in his wrist.  This is the same injury that Hopkins was listed as dealing with on the Texans’ Week 17 injury report.  Hopkins caught only 2 of 6 targets Week 17 vs. the Jaguars for 5 yards.  It was his lowest output of the season.

Hopkins had a pin and rod inserted into his wrist, and has been in a cast, which he said he was having removed ‘today’ (Saturday).

Hopkins said he would be able to resume normal activities in ‘a couple of weeks’.  He called the procedure ‘minor’ and doesn’t expect it to be a concern  going forward.

"

Hopkins finished the 2014-15 NFL season with 76 catches for 1,210 yards and six touchdowns as he emerged as one of the brightest young wide receivers in the NFL.

While the injury is a temporary setback, Hopkins is emerging as a No. 1 receiver for the Texans and will look to improve on his breakout season in 2015.

It's unclear who will be under center for Houston in 2015, but with Hopkins' explosiveness, the offense will continue to have weapons in the passing game.
