Where Has All The Passion Gone.......
As an Auburn Football faithful and die hard for more than 27 years, (10 of which I've been fully invested) I've seen good times, great times and my fair share of bad times. I've always considered my opinion worthy of merit and my point of view realistic but as of late...well...that just doesn't hold much water in the world of college football.
See, nowadays optimism regarding your team of choice is perceived as unreal expectations or just plain ignorance.
Why?...because my team didn't live up to standards set by the powers that be and even myself prior to a disastrous season: am I expected to bite my tongue? Why, when asked if I think we (Auburn) will beat Alabama, L.S.U. or Georgia can't I say, "You damn right"!
The reason I raise this point is when I listen to the radio or watch the sports shows and hear these fans suppress their true passion for the team they love, it makes me sick. It makes me wonder why a tried and true fan is ashamed to say, "Were going undefeated," or, "losing is not an option," instead of crap like, "Well...let's be honest, Florida is just too tough".
My question to the so-called fans out there is this...Where's has all your passion gone? Since when does being hopeful, standing firmly behind your team and the possibility or their accomplishments mean you havn't got a clue?
Where I'm from...that's the trait of a coward.
Look, I'm a realist. I know my stuff and I know who is expected or supposed to beat who but I'll be damned if I will accept defeat before the game has been played. I urge all you fans to look inside of yourself the next time a question regarding your team's season or game comes up and ask yourself if any of those guys you cheer on every saturday thinks he isn't gonna win...then answer your question. Find your passion people! I bleed orange and blue! What about you?
