Manchester United Transfer News: Top Rumours on Huge Signings Eyed by Red Devils
Manchester United have been given a boost in their targeting of Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus with reports suggesting that Real Madrid are not interested in signing the German superstar.
According to Jamie Anderson in the Express, the Red Devils now have only Chelsea and Bayern Munich to compete with for Reus' signature, as Los Blancos will not be putting in an offer for the 25-year-old midfielder.
The transfer speculation surrounding Reus has been unrelenting over recent months, unsurprising given that he is one of the world's most exciting attacking players—scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances last season, per WhoScored.com.

Furthermore, his release clause is set to drop to just £20 million in the coming summer, per Metro, an absolute bargain for a player of his quality.
United would benefit hugely from the addition of Reus—as any team would—and if, as Madrid president Florentino Perez says per AS, Los Blancos are indeed "not looking" at him, that's one less club to compete with.
However, the suggestion that only United, Chelsea and Bayern are set to go in for him is somewhat dubious as the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal have all also been linked with Reus, per Metro's piece.

Obviously Dortmund will be eager to hold on to their star man, but they look set to lose him in the summer, especially considering his bargain price tag and the German club's current plight which sees them in the bottom three of the Bundesliga.
If Dortmund do indeed see his departure as inevitable, they may look to move him on in January in an attempt to demand a higher transfer fee, although Sky Germany's Jan Aage Fjortoft does not see this as a possibility:
United boss Louis Van Gaal already has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal in the likes of Wayne Rooney, Angel Di Maria and Robin van Persie, but he is likely to be keeping an eye on Reus' situation.
However, while a new year move for Reus is highly unlikely from United, it seems they may well be set to go in for Benfica duo Enzo Perez and Nicolas Gaitan in January.
According to A Bola (h/t Anthony Chapman in the Express), the Old Trafford outfit are lining up a £50 million swoop for the Argentine pair—Perez being valued at £23 million, Gaitan £27 million.

Both international team-mates of Di Maria's, Perez could be a valuable presence for the Red Devils in the centre of midfield while Gaitan's versatility in attack is an attractive feature of his game.
The likelihood of Perez making the move to Old Trafford seems unlikely, though, as he has been consistently linked with a January switch to Valencia, per Bruce Archer in the Daily Star.
Van Gaal has turned around United's poor start to the season, and the Red Devils are currently on a six-match winning run with thoughts turning towards an unlikely Premier League title, per Harry West on Goal.com.
While they have been winning, United still do not look the most sturdy of outfits and need added strength in central defence as well as control in the middle of the park.
Thus, United's January transfers will be key to how they fare for the rest of the season, and they could genuinely be a threat to Chelsea and Manchester City in the English top flight if they buy well in the new year.
