Sergio Ramos Picks up 'Knock'
Thursday, Dec. 18
Real Madrid's bid to win the FIFA Club World Cup has come at a cost. Centre-back Sergio Ramos is unfit to train due to an as yet undisclosed "knock."
That's according to AS reporter J.L. Guerrero: "Sergio Ramos is not training with the rest of his Real Madrid team-mates in Marrakech. The defender picked up a knock during the European champions’ 4-0 Club World Cup semi-final win against Cruz Azul."
For most clubs, the loss of an experienced starting centre-back would be reason to curse the inconvenience of a midseason tournament. However, don't feel too bad for Los Merengues.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti has imposing young France international Raphael Varane. The 21-year-old is a budding star who deserves more playing time.
