Chargers Announce Team Will Stay in San Diego for 2015 Season
The San Diego Chargers will not terminate their lease with Qualcomm Stadium and will play there at least through the 2015 NFL season while work continues on a new venue
An official Tuesday news release from Mark Fabiani, special counsel to team President and CEO Dean Spanos, confirmed the Chargers' decision to remain playing in their current location:
"Today, the Chargers are making the same announcement that the team has made each year since 2007: The team will not be exercising the lease termination clause and will keep working to find a publicly acceptable way to build a Super-Bowl quality stadium in San Diego. Calendar year 2015 will constitute the team's fourteenth year of work on a San Diego stadium solution.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Bleacher Report insider Jason Cole weighed in on Tuesday's news, including in his analysis how Spanos has impacted the Chargers' stay in San Diego:
Almost a decade-and-a-half has passed since the Chargers' initial plan to construct a superior place to play, but it still hasn't happened. That won't quiet proponents of moving an NFL franchise to Los Angeles. Since San Diego isn't the biggest market, the franchise is a strong candidate to make the move.
According to the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer, the team estimates approximately one-fourth of its season-ticket holders are in Orange and L.A. counties. That would obviously be impacted in a negative way if a team other than the Chargers, such as St. Louis or Oakland, made the L.A. move.
The Chargers' on-field product, thanks in large part to the presence of Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers, has been strong enough to keep local fans interested.
That perception has evidently carried over into Tuesday's decision for San Diego to be home to the Chargers for one more season at minimum.
