The Philadelphia Eagles look to rebound from a devastating home loss to one NFC East rival and face another on the road Saturday when they visit the Washington Redskins. The Eagles fell to the Dallas Cowboys 38-27 last Sunday night as 3.5-point favorites to fall out of the NFC East lead, but they will try to get back on track by winning their fifth straight divisional road game straight up and against the spread.
Point spread: Eagles opened as 8.5-point favorites; the total was 50.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. (Line updates and matchup report)

Why the Eagles can cover the spread
Unfortunately, Philadelphia is now on the outside looking in on the NFC playoff picture following the loss to Dallas. But fortunately, the Eagles will be playing a Redskins team that is mired in a six-game losing streak without much hope to break the skid before the end of the season.
Philly has played well on the road under second-year head coach Chip Kelly, winning eight of its last 12 games both SU and ATS away from home heading into this matchup at Washington. The Redskins have also dropped four straight home games against NFC East foes, going 1-3 versus the line.
Why the Redskins can cover the spread
Washington does not have much to play for in the last two weeks other than trying to keep the Eagles or Cowboys out of the playoffs. Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and head coach Jay Gruden may also be playing for their jobs here, so it would be in the best interests of both men to put their differences aside and try to make a positive impression on team ownership.
RG3 is expected to start for the injured Colt McCoy, which is something you never would have imagined could be the scenario at this point of the season. But that’s the case, and Griffin can only help himself by playing well.
Smart pick
Philadelphia is favored by more than a touchdown in this divisional matchup and with good reason. The Eagles have thrived on the road while Washington has gone 2-8 SU and ATS in its past 10 home games, losing five in a row.
The Redskins appear to be just riding out the year, with management expected to make big decisions in the offseason. Philly is in a much different position obviously with a lot more to play for at this point. Dallas has a tough home game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, and a loss by the Cowboys combined with a win by the Eagles puts Philadelphia back in first place.
Bettors can expect Philadelphia to win this one by at least two touchdowns.
