WWE Main Event Results: Winners, Twitter Reaction and Analysis from December 16
Welcome to Bleacher Report's recap of this week's Main Event. Here is where we take a look at what happened on the show, examining the winners, reactions to matches and any possible ramifications coming out of the program.
This week's episode aired an hour early because of the live episode of SmackDown that followed. Other than that, it was business as usual for the C-show.
There was some solid wrestling and notable segments, but we will have to wait and see if anything develops from them, especially the weird backstage interaction between Paige and Erick Rowan.

Let's take a look at what Main Event had to offer this week.
Miz TV
Miz gave Naomi a great introduction when he brought her out for Miz TV at the top of the show. Naomi came out and said she wasn't going to buy into any of his false promises.
Miz complimented her on her talent and looks and said he is for real. He told her that he was able to get her a Divas title match on SmackDown, which seemed to turn her frown upside down.
He goaded her by saying it was alright if she had to ask Jimmy Uso for permission, and that is when Jimmy came to the ring and told him to stay away from his wife.
While this segment was short, the performances were solid. It's good to finally see Naomi get some time with a mic, even if it is because of her husband's feud and not her own storyline.
Grade: B
Notes and Highlights:
- Naomi's outfit probably doesn't qualify as PG, but nobody's complaining.
- Miz is such a good heel. Everything he says has a purpose, and he is good at looking like he is getting under everyone's skin.
Twitter Reaction:
The New Day vs. Cesaro and Tyson Kidd
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods paired up for this match. Kidd and Cesaro got in some decent offense, but the two New Day members were in control for a lot of the action.
Woods showed off some of his creativity, and Kingston hit his usual array of high-flying offense. Kidd and Cesaro kept things a little more grounded when in control.
Kidd yelled at his wife for not taking advantage of a situation where she could help him cheat, but it didn't really matter in the end.
This ended up being a much better match than expected. They were given a decent amount of time, and there were a lot of fun moments toward the end.
The finish came when Kingston hit Kidd with a double foot-stomp from the top rope while he was draped across Woods' knee.
Winners: The New Day
Grade: B+
Notes and Highlights:
- It looks like this tag team with Cesaro and Kidd is here to stay. That is good news for Kidd and bad news for Cesaro.
- Kidd said they were unstoppable during an interview, but they have lost every match.
- Kingston and Woods have a good chemistry as partners. The matching hairdos help a little.
- There is a lot of talent in The New Day, but the crowd seems like it couldn't care less.
- WWE didn't upload this match for some reason, so you can instead watch the highlights from The New Day vs. Gold and Stardust on Raw.
Twitter Reaction:
A Strange Trio and Paige vs. Emma
Erick Rowan was shown teaching Paige some chess moves when Titus O'Neil walked up and started talking a little trash.
After it became apparent that O'Neil has no idea how to play the game of kings, he stormed off. Paige shared a little look with Rowan before he put his mask back on.
This was a strange segment, but it was also intriguing. It didn't have anything to do with a current feud, and it put three people together who you would never expect to hang out.
Some might see this segment as weird and pointless, but sometimes you need a few things like that to break up the repetitiveness of WWE's storylines and feuds.
Paige then had a match with Emma that was average at best. Emma did her usual comedy stuff until Paige took control and destroyed her.
Winner: Paige
Grade: C-
Notes and Highlights:
- Emma slapping Paige in the butt got a bigger pop than either woman got on her own.
- Pairing Paige with Rowan might actually work for a little while. They are both weird enough to make it entertaining.
- You know it's quiet when you can hear the wrestlers whispering to each other between moves.
- Emma's attire reminds me of the early '90s. It was all about colors and shapes back then. Just watch an early episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to see what it was like.
Twitter Reaction:
Kane vs. Erick Rowan
Two big men having a match together can result in a clunker, but this one ended up being a little better than you would think.
They kept a steady pace and brought the physicality. Neither man controlled the action for too long, giving both of them a chance to look good at different points.
The only real problem here was the crowd. The audience was not that into what was going on in the ring, which is more a statement of what it thinks about the two Superstars' current storylines than their performance in the ring.
Kane ended up getting the win in the end, which was a little surprising. That's three straight losses for Rowan in three nights. That is not a great sign for his future.
Winner: Kane
Grade: C+
Notes and Highlights:
- O'Neil was on commentary and ended up having some drinks splashed on him, which means he is probably going to start a feud with Rowan soon.
- It's still weird that Kane is wearing his dress pants instead of wrestling tights.
- When was the last time someone hit Kane so hard that he flew out of the ring like he did when Rowan collided with him?
- O'Neil was better on commentary than Michael Cole and Tom Phillips. He could have a good career calling any sport if he ever hangs up his boots.
Twitter Reaction:
"So Rowan lost to Big Show & Kane in the span of 48 hours. Way to push that young talent! #MainEvent
