Guillermo Ochoa to Liverpool: Latest Transfer Details, Comments and Reaction
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers looks set to turn to Malaga's Guillermo Ochoa to solve his goalkeeping crisis in the wake of the Reds' 3-0 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
The out-of-form Simon Mignolet was dropped for the Old Trafford defeat, but replacement Brad Jones did little to suggest he is a viable long-term option. Reports now suggest the Anfield outfit have agreed a deal worth £3 million to sign Ochoa in January in an attempt to shore up their back line, per Ben Jefferson in the Express.
The report was confirmed by ITV.

The Mexican moved to Malaga in the summer in the wake of a string of impressive appearances at the World Cup in Brazil, but he has yet to make an appearance for the La Liga club, manager Javi Garcia preferring Carlos Kameni between the posts.
As a result, the 29-year-old Ochoa is seemingly on his way out of Malaga to Anfield, with a Mirror poll suggesting the move would be a popular one:
Certainly Ochoa proved at the World Cup that he has the potential to be a world-class 'keeper, although he has never played at a top club level having previously plied his trade at Mexican club America and French side Ajaccio.
However, Liverpool are really struggling this season—particularly at the back where they have conceded 22 goals in 16 games—and Mignolet is a clear weakness. Ochoa may well be a valuable alternative option.
