10 Thierry Henry Statistics You Might Have Forgotten as the Legend Retires

Ryan BaileyDec 16, 2014

After concluding his fifth MLS season, Thierry Henry has drawn the curtains on a glittering 20-year career.

The Arsenal legend retires with a World Cup, a European Championship, a Champions League and a statue outside the Emirates.

It is common knowledge that the Frenchman is the all-time leading goalscorer for both France and Arsenal, but here are some of the other impressive statistics that Titi has accumulated over the years...

Winner of the Most Premier League Golden Boots

1 of 10

Thierry Henry was the Premier League top goalscorer in four separate seasons (2001-02; 2003-04; 2004-05 and 2005-06).

No one else has earned the accolade accolade this many times—Alan Shearer comes closest with the three Golden Boots that adorn his mantle piece.

In the history of the English top flight, only Jimmy Greaves (six) and Steve Bloomer (five) finished top goalscorer more often than the Frenchman (as per PremierLeague.com).

The 4th All-Time Premier League Goalscorer

2 of 10

With 175 Premier League goals under his belt, Henry is the joint-fourth highest scorer in the league's history, alongside Frank Lampard

Only Alan Shearer (260), Andy Cole (187) and Wayne Rooney (179) have scored more.

Of those 175 goals, 136 were with his right foot, 31 with his left foot and six were headers. Henry scored 23 Premier League penalties, while Lampard has padded out his numbers with 43 spot-kicks (as per Premier League.com).

The 2nd Highest Goals-Per-Minute Ratio in Premier League History

3 of 10

Henry's 175 Premier League goals came in 21,313 minutes of play, meaning he scored every 121.8 minutes on average (as per the Daily Mail).

This strike rate has only been eclipsed by Sergio Aguero who, as of December 4, averaged 108 minutes per goal.

Henry's is the best ratio of any player to have scored more than 100 Premier League goals.

Only Player to Score 20+ Goals in 5 Successive Premier League Seasons

5 of 10

Between the 2001-02 and 2005-06 seasons, Henry scored no fewer than 24 goals in each campaign.

This makes him the only player to have scored more than 20 goals in five successive Premier League seasons.

New York Red Bulls' All-Time Leader in Assists

6 of 10

Henry's time in New York may have coincided with the autumn years of his career, but he still broke several records.

The Frenchman provided 42 assists over his five MLS campaigns (as per MLSSoccer.com), the highest in club history.

According to newyorkredbulls.com, he is also New York's leader in game-winning goals (14) and game-winning assists (11).

The Treble-Winning Trio at Barcelona

7 of 10

Henry spent three seasons at Barcelona, notching up 49 goals in 121 appearances in all competitions.

In 2008-09, new manager Pep Guardiola led Barca to become the first Spanish team to win the treble.

Henry, Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o scored 100 goals between them in that campaign, becoming the most prolific trio in Spanish football history. Henry was responsible for 26 of the goals.

He Scored Against 34 of 35 Premier League Opponents Faced

8 of 10

Henry scored against 34 of 35 Premier League opponents faced. The only team who escaped his prolific wrath were Swansea, against whom he played for just 24 minutes in a substitute appearance in 2012 (as per PremierLeague.com).

So, prior to his comeback, he had a perfect record against every Premier League opponent.

Most Assists in a Premier League Campaign

9 of 10

In 2002-03, Henry scored 24 goals from 37 appearances, putting him one goal short of tying Ruud van Nistelrooy for the Premier League Golden Boot.

In that season, Titi also provided 20 assists, which stands as the highest amount in any single campaign.

His former colleague Cesc Fabregas, however, is on course to break that assist record this season with Chelsea.

His 'Invincible' Season

10 of 10

Henry was Arsenal's top scorer during their 2003-04 "Invincibles" season, with 39 goals in all competitions.

PremierLeague.com statistics show that during that run of 49 undefeated games, Henry scored the most goals, played the most minutes (4,312) and provided the most assists (19).
