With Tiger On The Prowl What Lies Ahead: The Final Months Of The Season
After watching Tiger Woods' dramatic win at Warwick Hills Country Club in Flint, Michigan this past weekend you could almost forget what happened two weeks ago......
What happened again?
Oh now I remember Tiger Woods missed the cut at the British Open something he hasn't done since John Daly actually won a tournament. Tiger's dismal showing at Turnberry was certainly a shock, but you knew he would be back at some point, well at least I knew.
A guy, a man i should say, like Tiger Woods doesn't just go away. After his performance at the Open Championship there was talk of his reign being over, talk of Tiger no longer being Tiger, but someone whose dominance on the PGA Tour had ended, and then two weeks later he's Tiger again. It's amazing how people could turn on a man so quickly and then praise him before you even blinked your eyes.
Tiger is back on top and always will be, I mean come on the guy won by three shots playing it safe the entire final round on Sunday the one time he was aggressive was when he went for the par 5 13th green in two hit it in the water and still made a par. Then finishing up on 17, where it was about as filled with fans as an Ohio State Michigan football game, the fans chanted his name as there long wait for the final group leader came to an end as he strolled onto the tee where he knocked it within 15 feet and saved another par. Then Tiger finished his winning round at the tournament he pretty much is the host of with a near bomb birdie putt but again saved his par. As he hoisted the trophy it seemed like there was one thing on everybody's minds, will there be another trophy for Tiger to hoist this year, will there be a 15th major?
To answer those questions on many a golf fan's mind, yes Tiger will hoist the Wanamaker Trophy this year, there is no doubt. An 0-4 major year is just out of the question for Woods, even if it is only one and probably the least important it's still a major. After that will he be the Fed-ex cup champ? Again definitely a possibility, winning the PGA would certainly help his chances.
So as we all await the final months we hope that it will be Tiger on top again to finish out the year on a high note, but just because everybody may be back on his side, doesn't mean we forgot about the other star's bandwagon we all love to jump on, yes you know who Im talking about.......Phil Mickelson.
