Savage Injures Knee vs. Colts
Sunday, Dec. 14
The Houston Texans' quarterback depth chart is shrinking at a rapid rate toward the end of the 2014 NFL season.
Rookie Tom Savage injured his leg in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, putting his status in doubt for Week 16's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
"Savage was hurt near the end of the game, showed a noticeable limp in the locker room and will undergo an MRI," writes the Houston Chronicle's John McClain, who also reports Savage intends to play against the Ravens.
Bleacher Report medical expert Dave Siebert provided his take on the injury:
Starting Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was injured in Sunday's loss at Lucas Oil Stadium to press Savage into action. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora provided the details:
Ross Tucker of NBC Sports Network weighed in on Savage's performance, as the fourth-round draft pick went 10-of-19 passing of 127 yards and an interception:
Fitzpatrick was previously benched for Ryan Mallett, but he tore pectoral muscles in Week 12, forcing the Texans to turn to Fitzpatrick once again.
Houston added depth by signing veteran backup Thaddeus Lewis not long thereafter. Lewis is the only other option in the event that Savage can't play in the final two games.
