WWE TLC 2014: Biggest Unanswered Questions Going into Event

Alfred KonuwaDec 14, 2014

WWE Tables, Ladders & Chairs is a pay-per-view loaded with matches and even more stipulations. With most matches consisting of ongoing feuds set to continue, many questions arise regarding the pay-per-view before the Royal Rumble and the beginning of the road to WrestleMania.

TLC will likely mark the end of multiple high-profile feuds before the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is brought back into the picture, but the defense of other championships will provide clarity to uncertain scenarios.

How legit are The Miz and Damien Mizdow? Are AJ Lee's days numbered in the WWE?

Many questions remain regarding the future booking of various WWE Superstars and Divas. All should be answered in WWE's final pay-per-view of 2014.

Are the Miz and Mizdow For Real?

1 of 5

The Miz and Mizdow have been the most entertaining act going on Raw. The tandem was recently legitimized at Survivor Series with a tag team championship victory, rendering them more than just a midcard comedy act.

I can't help but feel that the team will not have truly arrived as a legitimate threat until they beat the class of the division, The Usos, in a traditional tag team match. WWE has added a personal touch to the feud by involving Naomi, the real-life wife of Jimmy Uso, so the conflict goes beyond comedy.

The Usos enjoyed a long run with the tag team championships that lasted for much of 2014. With Miz and Mizdow gaining more momentum with every week, WWE would be wise to stick with the entertaining duo to continue to improve an up-and-down division.

Is Erick Rowan For Real?

2 of 5

WWE has invested a surprisingly significant amount in Erick Rowan. Booked as a midcard comedy act early during his first weeks away from The Wyatt Family, Rowan has rallied of late to become a key part of WWE programming.

Coming out of a Survivor Series main event, Rowan has been elevated with a feud against The Big Show.

After Big Show turned on John Cena during last month's main event, it was only natural that the two feud in the ensuing weeks. It was Erick Rowan, however, who stepped up against Big Show and, as a result Big Red has been spotlighted in several Raw segments.

With a distinct look coupled with a marketable sheep's mask, Rowan makes for an ideal monster babyface. In his biggest match to date, Rowan has a chance to separate himself from the muddled midcard in what should be a unique Stairs match against Big Show.

Is This AJ Lee's Final Shot at the WWE Divas Championship?

3 of 5

Amid the storm of controversy involving her husband, CM Punk, whose anti-WWE tour of publicity recently saw him sign with the UFC, there has been a lot of speculation that AJ Lee may be on her way out of WWE.

During a recent promo, accepting the Slammy Award for Diva of the Year, Lee put over up-and-coming NXT Divas Emma, Paige and Charlotte as those who would eventually ascend to her throne. During a stint on commentary Friday on SmackDown, Lee retorted, "You're going to miss me when I'm gone."

Lee has been on the losing end in multiple recent matches against the Bellas and will once again square off against Nikki for the Divas title at WWE TLC. With such a delicate situation in her mandatory rematch, it's likely this may be Lee's final shot at the Divas Championship.

Will the Dean Ambrose-Bray Wyatt Feud Continue Beyond WWE TLC?

4 of 5

Typically, WWE's formula for long-form feuds is to book three matches between its combatants. TLC will mark the second consecutive pay-per-view match between Wyatt and Ambrose, but given the stipulation and with the Royal Rumble looming, this might be it.

The Tables, Ladders & Chairs stipulation is certainly one of finality, and several big angles have been booked between the two rivals over the past several weeks of programming.

The two-match feud may seem like a brief one; the two simply haven't connected with fans due to their similar characteristics. Two matches between these two mentally unstable characters may be two too many.

Is There a Chance John Cena Actually Loses to Seth Rollins?

5 of 5

John Cena's status as the No. 1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is on the line as he takes on Seth Rollins in a Tables match.

Given the stipulation and the possibility for outside interference in favor of Rollins, it's highly possible Cena could walk out of the Quicken Loans Arena without a title shot.

Still, it's hard to imagine that Cena and Brock Lesnar will not headline one of WWE's biggest pay-per-views of the year come January.

After Sting's memorable debut during last month's Survivor Series, which resulted in the end of The Authority, WWE has made it a point to create headlines during pay-per-views to entice potential subscribers. Cena's losing his status as No. 1 contender would do just that.

But even if that does happen, it's likely WWE would just book Cena to earn another shot in order to preserve its blockbuster main event, which would defeat the purpose of having this match in the first place.
