Reggie McKenzie Rumors: Latest Buzz, Speculation Surrounding Raiders GM

After limping to a 2-11 start to the 2014 season and finding themselves once again in the running for the top overall pick in the NFL draft, the Oakland Raiders are reportedly prepared to cut ties with their general manager, Reggie McKenzie.  

Adam Schefter of ESPN has the report:

This report comes a few weeks after owner Mark Davis appeared to publicly support McKenzie. Davis praised McKenzie to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (per Dan Hanzus) before the team won their first game of the season on Thursday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs:

We are in really good shape, based on the way Reggie put all the contracts together and everything else. We're not settled with a lot of upside-down situations anymore. The situation he walked into originally was pretty tough. The deconstruction phase of that went very, very well. I think we're a pretty desirable place for someone that wants to come in and build.

"

Add in the fact that McKenzie drafted Derek Carr and Khalil Mack, who each could be pillars of the offensive and defensive side of the ball for years to come, and McKenzie has a case that he deserves another year at the helm.

On the other hand, the Raiders are 10-35 since McKenzie took over as general manager and his hiring of Dennis Allen as head coach didn't pan out. Changes are imminent in Oakland and, if the recent reports are to be believed, McKenzie isn't going to survive them with.
