Alex Burrows in Hot Water
Earlier this summer Vancouver Canucks emerging forward Alex Burrows apparently let his temper get the best of him and only time will tell if it will cost him. This four-year professional, who enjoyed a breakout season with 51 points and a +23 rating is being investigated for an ugly on-ice incident that occurred on July 21 at Excellent Ice Arena in Kirkland, Quebec. According to details, which at this time are still sketchy, Burrows, who was playing summer hockey in a league called PHL (Pond Hockey League), swung his stick in a violent fashion and made direct contact with opposing goalie Koray Celik. Currently the police and the Canucks organization are in the mist of investigating and no concrete comments or decisions have been made. “Police went to the arena, but there are no charges right now,” Burrows agent, Paul Corbeil said. “(Police arrived) because some people called the police. They spoke with Alex but nothing more than that.” Last season Burrows was outstanding for the Canucks, whose previous high in points was 31 two years ago, also registered 150 penalty minutes.
