Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reported on James Young from Celtics practice:

Young Sidelined With Shoulder Injury

Friday, Dec. 12

Boston Celtics rookie James Young has been limited to five games this season and could be on the shelf for a lot longer with a shoulder injury.

According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, Young underwent an MRI that revealed a small muscle tear in his right shoulder:

The good news is Young doesn't have to undergo surgery at this moment, though it sounds like that is still on the table depending on what happens with rehab. Despite their 7-13 record entering Friday, the Celtics are only one game behind Brooklyn for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference.

The former Kentucky star played well in limited action, averaging 2.2 points per game with a field goal percentage of 62.5 despite only playing 3.6 minutes per game.
