Tottenham Fined for Europa League Pitch Invasions vs. Partizan Belgrade

Rory MarsdenDec 11, 2014

Tottenham have been handed a hefty fine after multiple pitch invasions resulted in the brief halting of Spurs' 1-0 Europa League win over Partizan Belgrade at White Hart Lane late in November.

On three separate occasions during the match's first half, individual men invaded the pitch, with referee Yevhen Aranovskiy eventually suspending the match for 10 minutes. Spurs have now been reprimanded for the incident, per Sky Sports News HQ:

The three men—Nathaniel Thompson, 23, Helder Gomes, 22, and Daniel Jarvis, 26—seemed to be attempting some kind of publicity stunt and have since been charged by the police, per The Independent

As sports journalist Tariq Panja indicates, it was a somewhat bizarre incident and one which Spurs will no doubt be eager to see prevented in the future:

Mauricio Pochettino's side complete their Europa League group-stage campaign on Thursday away at Besiktas and need a draw to confirm top spot.
