Triple H, Uhaa Nation and Latest WWE NXT Developmental News

Ryan DilbertDec 10, 2014

Triple H may one day be welcoming Uhaa Nation to WWE NXT, but he's busy thinking for now about the latest live special. The COO shared a number of noteworthy thoughts in a conference call hyping NXT Takeover: R Evolution, including why Charlotte's Raw debut went down the way it did.

The latest update on whether indy star Nation is WWE headed to WWE developmental refutes earlier rumors that he had already put pen to paper.

In other NXT news, Sami Zayn talked to Michael Cole, an indy wrestler may be doing more for WWE than playing a Rosebud, and Mojo Rawley had a few things to say to folks in both Maryland and Florida.

WWE Taking Look at Daughter of Hall of Famer

Tessa Blanchard, daughter of Tully Blanchard, made a debut of sorts. A more substantial opportunity is headed her way.

As PWInsider's Mike Johnson noted, Blanchard was one of Adam Rose's Rosebuds on Monday's Raw. She's far from the only indy wrestler to get the call do that. What's more important is that WWE officials reportedly want to have another look at her.

According to F4WOnline (h/t WrestlingInc), Blanchard is set to receive another WWE tryout this weekend.

At the moment, fans knew little about her beyond her last name. She has mostly worked for promotions based in the Carolinas such as Trans-South Wrestling and Exodus Wrestling Alliance, where she won her first championship.

She's a newbie to the game, having just begun her in-ring career in 2014, but is already showing promise.

Sami Zayn Talks NXT Takeover with Michael Cole

A spot normally reserved for big names like John Cena, Triple H and Chris Jericho went to Sami Zayn. Michael Cole hosted him for his weekly interview series.

Zayn talked about his upcoming match with Adrian Neville. The fact that a loss that night would force the popular star to quit NXT suggests that Zayn's main roster days are beginning at any moment.

The sit-down interview was one of his best performances to date, a good look at a character that is growing in depth.

NXT Takeover Notes and Takeaways from Conference Call with Triple H

NXT Takeover: R Evolution is going to feature two Flairs. Charlotte will defend her title against Sasha Banks. The champ's famous father is on his way to the show as well.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reports that "Flair will be at Thursday's WWE NXT Takeover: R Evolution."

To hype that live event, the WWE Network (subscription required) will air a special preview show featuring Renee Young on Wednesday at 10 p.m ET.

Triple H did some hyping of his own. During a conference call discussing the last Takeover of 2014, per Justin LaBar of WrestleZone, Triple H gave fans a number of things to chew on.

For one, the COO said that Charlotte was originally scheduled to have more time against Natalya, but time constraints forced them to change things around. He said that in the future that she will booked stronger.

One has to assume that a part of that is that different people run NXT compared to Raw. That's been evident in how differently the company has presented Emma, for example, since moving up to the main roster.

He compared Sami Zayn to Ricky Steamboat, high praise to say the least. He also believes that Adrian Neville is improving on the mic.

As for NXT's live events, Triple H mentioned possibly expanding beyond Georgia and Florida. That's great news for fans who live in neighboring states.

Uhaa Nation Update

4 of 5

After winning the Preston City Wrestling world title, rumors of Uhaa Nation's imminent arrival to NXT seemed less likely to be true. There's now more reason to doubt.

As reported by PWInsider Elite (h/t WrestlingInc.com), promoter Gabe Sapolsky said that Nation has not yet signed with WWE. He encourages his talent to sign with WWE and would like to see Nation do just that.

Based on athletic skill and talent alone, Nation is destined for a trip to NXT. It just doesn't look to be happening at this very moment.

Mojo Rawley Makes Appearances

Injured prospect Mojo Rawley worked on his mic skills in two different venues.

As noted on PWInsider, Rawley made an appearance at the Dec. 4 NXT house show where he "came out for a promo with his arm still in a sling. He said he is coming back soon, and that when he gets the sling off, he's coming back with a new attitude and a new focus."

For his sake, a new attitude should mean a tweak of his character. Staying hyped all the time isn't compelling enough on its own.

Rawley, a Maryland alum, also showed up at a University of Maryland football game. The Maryland Athletics Twitter account shared a photo of Rawley hyping the crowd in a game against Rutgers.

When he returns to the ring to do this sort of thing with the NXT crowd, he's going to find the NXT landscape a lot more crowded with talent. He'll have to compete with prospects like Hideo Itami and Kevin Owens.

It's going to be a tough journey moving past those men.
