🚨Sabres Force Game 7 vs. Habs

Dany Heatley is on the Move and the Habs are Involved?

GoucheAug 3, 2009

What’s another day without a Dany Heatley trade rumor? Ever since requesting a trade in June this disgruntled Ottawa Senators star forward has been rumored to be going to the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers and now the San Jose Sharks. This two time 50- goal scorer who struggled last season with only 72 points recently angered Senators management by exercising his no trade clause and therefore killing a deal that would have sent him to the Edmonton Oilers. Approximately 24 hours after Oilers GM Steve Tambellini announced that his team was pulling out of the Heatley sweepstakes, the San Jose Sharks have jumped into the mix. Looking for more scoring to take the pressure off of their big guns Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau, the Sharks who won the President Trophy last season with 117 points have offered former Rocket Richard Trophy winner Jonathan Cheechoo, defenceman Christian Erhoff and a first round draft pick. Apparently Senators GM Bryan Murray wasn’t enthusiastic about the trade proposal but the Sharks aren’t going to give up. Reports say that a third team quite possibly the Montreal Canadiens can be involved in a three- way deal. “If the Sharks don’t have what the Senators want, then (GM) Doug Wilson might have to go get it from another team,” a league executive said. “The Senators want a proven scoring winger in return and that means you might have to get a third team involved.” Reports also say that Heatley who was a former second overall pick of the Atlanta Thrashers back in 2000 would in fact waive his no trade and accept a deal to the Sharks.
