So if recent form holds, San Francisco should begin another three-game winning streak Sunday...right?

The 49ers led the Raiders late into the third quarter last week but ran out of gas against an inspired Oakland team.

San Francisco now trails in the NFC wild-card race by two games and cannot afford another defeat.

Why the Seahawks Can Cover the Spread

The Seahawks have stumbled a few times this season, but they might be getting hot at just the right time, with three wins/covers in a row. Last week, Seattle traveled cross-country and dominated the Eagles in Philadelphia 24-14, covering as a one-point road favorite.

And that game wasn't nearly as close as that score might indicate. The Seahawks gained 440 yards to the Eagles' 139, out-rushed them 188-57 and won the time-of-possession battle by a lopsided 42-18 margin.

Seattle grabbed a 17-7 early in the third quarter, allowed Philly a quick score to get within 17-14, but immediately put the game away with another touchdown drive. It culminated in a beautiful Russell Wilson-Doug Baldwin connection in the end zone.

So at 9-4, the Seahawks trail Arizona by just a game in the NFC West, and the Cardinals are fading. Seattle smells blood.
