Bordeaux Reject Arsenal's "Ridiculous" Bid for Chamakh

Arsenal's supporters have been constantly pleading with Arsene Wenger to make some additions to a rather depleted Arsenal squad which has seen the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure depart with only Thomas Vermaelen coming in.

Samir Nasri's injury has further dented Arsenal's chances of bringing home some silverware after an interval which has stretched to around half a decade.

Arsene Wenger apparently believes his squad is 'strong enough' to compete this season.

The Gunners triumphed in the Emirates Cup, thanks largely to outstanding contributions from Andrei Arshavin and Jack Wilshere.

Brede Hangeland, Sebastian Bassong, Patrick Viera, Klaas Jan Huntelaar, and Marouane Chamakh are amongst a host of names, who are being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal resumed their rebuilding process with an offer of just £5million for Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh, which Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud branded as 'ridiculous'.

Chamakh, though, is frustrated at being unable to secure a move to the Premier League despite offers from Sunderland and Arsenal.

"I am angry, I am disgusted and I do not understand why they have done that."

"One thing is certain, I will not be signing a new contract—if they will not let me go now, I will leave for free."

"If a solution cannot be found quickly, everyone will lose. Frankly I really do not want to start the season with Bordeaux."

Chamakh is infuriated that neither Sunderland or Arsenal can agree terms with Bordeaux.

"Already I am told that Sunderland is not the club for me."

"But since when does a club chose the future of a player?, then my bosses tell me they will let me go to one of the 'Big Four' like Arsenal."

"And then when an offer comes in, it is refused because they want a bigger fee as I have one year left on my contract."

"Everything is being done to prevent my move, I do not understand given how much service I have given to Bordeaux."

Not surprisingly, Chamakh is not making any secret of his agony.

Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc confirmed he was informed by the player he could not play in their clash with Villarreal on Sunday.

"I received a phone call on Saturday evening, he told me he was sick and I am forced to believe it."

The Moroccan striker has reportedly travelled to England to push through a move.

Chamakh's frustration is understandable but why are Arsenal offering only £5 million for him when they received £25 million for Emmanuel Adebayor, the man, he is likely to replace.
