After hosting a number of stud recruits this weekend, Gus Malzahn and his staff have earned a commitment from 4-star athlete and former Texas commitment Tim Irvin, according to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports.

Bartow reports that Irvin also plans to enroll at Auburn this week.

Irvin's pledge is huge for the Tigers, and it could be the start of a flurry of good news for the Tigers heading into the stretch run toward signing day.

Wednesday, Dec. 17

Auburn landed its 20th commitment on Wednesday morning when 3-star JUCO defensive tackle Maurice Swain signed with the Tigers.

The 6'4", 295-pounder's pledge is huge considering that defensive tackle is arguably the biggest remaining need for the Tigers in the 2015 class.

Swain picked Auburn over offers from Kentucky and Mississippi State among others.

Recruiting season has its share of twists and turns, and every now and then, it can also bring a sense of humor into a process that is normally filled with drama.

Take the case of 4-star defensive end D'Andre Walker. The 6'2", 218-pounder announced his final three schools in unique fashion.

Auburn made the cut, but don't let us spoil the rest of the fun for you.

Check it out below.

Bravo, D'Andre.

Wed. Dec. 10

It will be an old-fashioned battle between Alabama and Auburn for 5-star defensive tackle Daron Payne.

The 6'2", 325-pounderwho is scheduled to announce his commitment on Jan. 2 at the Under Armour All-American Game—told Keith Niebuhr of AuburnUndercover that the Tide and the Tigers are running "even" for his services.

Considering that defensive tackle is one of the Tigers biggest needs in this cycle, Payne is almost a "must-have" type of recruit.
