The San Francisco 49ers have endured a difficult 2014 NFL season, but fans received some positive news Tuesday in the form of linebacker NaVorro Bowman's potential return.
According to the team's official Twitter account, the Niners have activated the three-time All-Pro to the active roster:

Per Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, Tuesday was the deadline for the 49ers to decide whether to put him on the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
Bowman talked about being activated, according to Cam Inman of the Mercury News:
The fact that Bowman is on the active roster, though, doesn't necessarily mean that he will play this season, according to Maiocco:
Bowman missed the first 13 games of the current campaign after tearing his ACL and MCL in the NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks last season.
The Niners are 7-6, and they'll need outside help to make the postseason even if they win out. With that said, the emotional boost provided by Bowman possibly returning to action can only be considered a good thing for the beleaguered 49ers.
Bowman would give the locker room a lift with his leadership and obviously provide a boost to the 49ers defense, but the reeling offense will ultimately need to perform better for San Francisco to have any chance at cracking the postseason.
