Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate's Post-Week 14 Fantasy Reaction

Timothy RappDec 7, 2014

He's ba-aaaack.

For the second straight week, Calvin Johnson eclipsed 100 receiving yards and scored a touchdown, this time terrorizing the Tamp Bay Buccaneers. Despite an injury-plagued season that has left owners who drafted him in the first or second round rather despondent for much of the season, Megatron is back to his dominant ways once more.

That's great news for Matthew Stafford owners who have remained patient with the quarterback. While it's still safe to judge Stafford as a QB2 for the duration of the fantasy playoffs, he's a QB2 with QB1 upside and has a great matchup in Week 16 against the Chicago Bears, generally the week when folks have their fantasy championships.

Stafford has been up and down for fantasy owners this year, but it appears he's trending up at the perfect moment.

Golden Tate, meanwhile, has been steady for much of the year, but there's no doubt he's trending downward some with the resurgence of Megatron. That was bound to happen to a certain degree—Johnson is a unique talent and Stafford's favorite target—but Tate still has solid value as a weekly flex consideration.

Is his upside now capped? Yes. Will we see him dominate like he did while Johnson was hurt? No, likely not. But is he still worth a starting spot in your lineup?

Absolutely.

Hit me up on Twitter—I'll answer your fantasy questions and tweet some corny jokes, too. It's more fun than being a running back against the Tennessee Titans.
