DeAndre Hopkins' Updated Fantasy Outlook After Andre Johnson's Injury

Timothy RappDec 7, 2014

DeAndre Hopkins has already taken over as the top target in the Houston Texans passing game. But now even more targets are likely heading his way, as wide receiver Andre Johnson had to leave Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a head injury.

The team's official Twitter account posted the news:

While that's rough news for a Texans team that has recently been hit with injuries, little should change for Hopkins outside of a few more targets if Johnson's injury keeps him out of action going forward. The breakout wide receiver came into Sunday leading the Texans in receiving yards (1,041) and touchdowns (six) and has established himself as one of the better WR2 options this season.

While Hopkins has generally been more steady than spectacular—coming into Sunday he had eight or more fantasy points in eight of his 12 games—he showed off his full upside last week, catching nine passes for 238 yards and two scores and notching 35 fantasy points in the process.

Without question, he remains a must-start player throughout the fantasy playoffs and is going to be a very popular player come fantasy drafts next year as well.
