Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: Live Houston Score and Analysis

Brian McDonaldDec 7, 2014

Does it seem odd to anyone else that division opponents wouldn't face until Week 14?

Something similar happened last year with the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts, but to not face Jacksonville until after you've already played Tennessee twice feels weird.

Anyway, regardless of when they play, this is a game that the Texans should win. The Texans aren't a good enough team to be a lock for victory on the road, but the Jaguars have been awful this year, as their 2-10 record would indicate.

Led by their rookie quarterback Blake Bortles, the Jaguars offense has been a train wreck this season. They currently rank 29th in passing touchdowns, 23rd in rushing touchdowns, 31st in yards gained and 31st in points scored; they've been awful.

How bad has the third overall pick been this season? Out of 33 quarterbacks with enough snaps to qualify, only Geno Smith has a worse QB rating than Bortles. The rookie also ranks dead last in QBR for the season.

Bortles is also tied—with Jay Cutler—for the dubious honor of leading the league in interceptions with 15 through 10 starts, tied—with Kirk Cousins—for the worst interception percentage in the league, ranks 30th in yards per pass attempt and 22nd in completion percentage.

In only their second victory of the season, the Jaguars defeated the New York Giants more due to two fumble returns for a touchdown than the great play of their rookie; Bortles was held under 200 yards passing in the game.

The Texans should be back above the .500 mark after the game ends today.
