Aguero Injured vs. Stoke
Wednesday, Feb. 11
Manchester City's Sergio Aguero just can't catch a break in the 2014-15 season, as the Argentina international suffered another injury on Wednesday against Stoke City.
Fox Soccer Trax and Manchester City added details after he injured what looked to be his back, which the Manchester Evening News' Stuart Brennan reported "does not seem serious":
Aguero commented on his condition following the match:
The 26-year-old previously missed time with a knee ligament injury he suffered in December against Everton, at a time when he was in the form of his life. Leading the Premier League in goals, he was being lauded as arguably the best player in England by former greats like Michael Owen:
Aguero's career has always been one of two stories—the incredibly gifted player dazzling with every touch on the ball, and the injury-prone striker looking on from the sidelines.
As reported by Transfermarkt.co.uk, he hasn't gone without a single season filled with multiple injuries that have forced him to miss at least double-digit matches since 2012.
Bleacher Report UK's Sam Tighe summarised things quite well:
Aguero is a pivotal player for City, and in his absence, others will have to step up. Fellow striker Stevan Jovetic has an injury history that reads very much like the Argentine's and hasn't been in great form, but the winter addition of Wilfried Bony was made with this kind of scenario in mind.
If the injury is a serious one, the Ivorian and Edin Dzeko should be able to hold things together for the Citizens.
