Sampdoria Manager Sinisa Mihajlovic Fines Himself After Getting Sent off
Sampdoria boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is a bit lighter in the wallet in order to lead by example for his players.
He was recently sent off for dissent, something he stresses his players not to do. So he went ahead and did the noble thing to show his players that not even he is above the law, so to speak: He fined himself.
He informed the club of the decision and will use the money he would have pocketed to buy a new ventilator for the Istituto Gaslini hospital.

Respect.
He explained the decision to Football Italia:
"What I ask of them, I ask of myself first.
They will be the ones to tell me when and where. I will pay because this is our way of facing situations. After all, what I ask of them, I ask of myself first, so it’s the right thing to do.
I just want to reiterate that I did not offend or insult the Fourth Official. I asked for an explanation, perhaps getting the tone wrong, but I never received my reply.
That’s not right if we are all together on the field collaborating for the greater good. As everyone knows, I never comment on refereeing decisions or action replays after the games, whether good or bad.
I am one of the few Coaches who does that and always tell my players not to discuss referees in interviews. I consider these choices to be a show of respect for the officials and this is why I want respect when I ask for decision to be explained to me on the touchline.
