Cribbs, Wants to Eat His Contract and Have It Too.
Pacta sunt servanda
This is a Latin term that means , simply , "agreements must be kept"
It is the Principal on which contract law is based. Somehow I don't think Joshua Cribbs reads much Latin , but then , how many of us do?

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Even in plain English , agreements must be kept.
So then, why does Joshua Cribbs want to strike a new deal? A 4 year 40.975 million dollar contract signed by Chicago's return specialist , Devin Hester in July of last year , might have a little to do with it.
Josua Cribb also has a new agent. Cribbs also claimed that , in an "unofficial" statement , GM Phil Savage had promised "they" would "take care of him"at the end of the 08 season.
I can only speculate that when Phil Savage made this "statement" he likely knew he was not going to be around to make good any promises. Some how Cribbs expects the new staff to honor the expired warranty of the ex- General Manager.
Contrary to Josh's discontent with his current contract , he is participating in training camp while riding the fence until a possible contract negotiation is made. Cribbs states that " he wants to be on that field" and that he also " needs to provide for his family". Due to the extreme nature of contact sports , an NFL career can be over before it begins. Dispite his claims of enduring the brutal barrage of beatings week after week untill his dreadlocks are white with age.
With 4 years left on a 6 year 6.7 million dollar contract, does Josh really have any leverage to award him a higher salary?
Devin Hester was drafted in the second round of the 2006 draft.
Joshua Cribbs was un-drafted in 2005.
Devin Hester , in his rookie year had returned 6 kickoffs for touchdowns in 13 weeks, two coming in one game. He also recorded a 108 yard TD from a missed field goal and an 82 yard punt return for a TD.
Joshua Cribbs, in his rookie year he averaged 24.5 yds per return ,even though he did set a franchise record with 1,094 total return yards , he only returned one kick for a TD against the Detroit Lions for his first TD of his career.
Its no mystery as to why Hester has the better contract.
It kills me to have to point out these glaring differences in their performance. I believe Cribbs is an equal, perhaps, better football player. Joshua Cribbs is also a good guy with a lot of heart and a lot of emotion. I would hate to see him leave Cleveland.
His attendance at training camp shows that he wants to be here , even though he feels he was taken advantage of by Savage and company.
No matter what the motivation is , the fact remains , Cribbs feels he deserves more money and is a threat to boycott until new arrangements are made
After 4 seasons in the NFL , it appears that Joshua Cribbs still has some growing up to do
With no predictions on what he may do in the future, if contract negotiations fail, Joshua Cribbs may just climb down from his fence and honor his contract , just like his conscious is telling him to.
